Title: Insanity Underrated
Author: [info]amidala_thrace
Previous Chapters: Can be read here.
Characters/Pairings: Kara/Lee, Cain, Adama
Word Count: 3,647
Spoilers: Through S2's "Resurrection Ship, Part 2"
Disclaimer: These characters are owned by RDM, Skiffy and Universal. I am owned by three cats, a beat-up Honda and some debt. Obviously, no copyright infringement is intended.
Rating: PG-13
Summary: “Has Galactica — is there any word about the stealth ship? The Blackbird? I heard over speakers in the ready room that Lee — that Lieutenant Adama had to eject.”
Author's Notes: I actually finished this on Sunday, way ahead of schedule from when I typically put these chapters up, so you guys may even be spoiled with two this week instead of the usual one. ;) We shall see. Meantime, this completes the Resurrection Ship arc, and while some aspects are necessarily different than in canon, you'll also find many plot points with which you are familiar. :)

Hi,
I am looking for quality ensemble AU fic. And by AU, I mean really AU - think everyone as part of a high school (but maybe not that lame). I'm fairly new to BSG fandom, and haven't come across anything yet. :)

Thanks!

So a friend of mine from high school just posted this on Facebook...

Have you ever noticed that after MON and TUES, even the calendar says WTF?????

I think that's hysterical, mostly because I never noticed it before.

Also, I don't watch Burn Notice, but the fact that they're using the Power Station's "Some Like It Hot" in their adverts, pleases me greatly. :)

I am now on enough asthma medicine (a pill and two inhalers, not counting the rescue inhaler) that a.) I have a headache and b.) I am vibrating to the point where I wish I could plug myself into something and charge my iPod from the excess energy.

Yech.

... and all over the floor.

Okay, I posted a while back about my almost 20 year old pottery dishes getting a little brittle in their old age.

And I think I posted a few weeks ago that my dishwasher died. Well, they still don't have the right drain hose, so I still don't have a dishwasher (well, I *have* a new dishwasher - it's sitting out in my front hall) which means washing dishes by hand. Which I HATE with a firey passion.

But really... dropping two plates on my way to the kitchen so that they'd shatter before I had to wash them is really not the way to avoid a dreaded chore.

Guess I need to go out and buy dishes when I run out this afternoon.

Argh.

Title: Insanity Underrated
Author: [info]amidala_thrace
Previous Chapters: Can be read here.
Characters/Pairings: Kara/Lee, Cain, Adama, mentions of one-sided Lee/Dee and prior Kara/Sam
Word Count: 3,297
Spoilers: Through S2's "Resurrection Ship, Part 2"
Disclaimer: These characters are owned by RDM, Skiffy and Universal. I am owned by three cats, a beat-up Honda and some debt. Obviously, no copyright infringement is intended.
Rating: PG-13
Summary: “You won’t make the same mistakes I did with an attitude like that. You’ll make new ones. But they will be just as damaging as those you perceive me to have made.”
Author's Notes: We now return to your regularly-scheduled Friday updates! This chapter went in a completely different (and non-outlined!) direction than I expected it to, but the ensuing conversation between one character and another really needed to happen, so I kept it in and shifted some other material to the next chapter. Enjoy!

Title: A new kind of Solstice (a sequel to Rayruz's "Game On")
Disclaimer: I, sadly, own none of it. I'm just happily sitting on it.
Rating: NC-17(a milder NC-17)
Words: Aprx. 3,400
Pairing: Kara/Lee
Summary: Pre-mini AU. Kara's all ready for another Solstice holed up in her barracks room, but Lee has other ideas.
Author's Notes: A sequel to Rayruz's amazing 'Game On'. This doesn't compare at all to that. I'm almost embarrassed to post this. My writing skills are a bit better(I hope), but still mediocre. However, in order to improve, I do need feedback. If anyone could point out where I go wrong it would be great. Thanks!

This is not beta'd, due to me still not knowing what to do to ask someone to do that. Can anyone offer any advice...?
Prompts: --getting drunk on spiked Nog
--making cookies and burning them because they get... distracted
Feedback: Very much wanted.(see above)

In 2009, thefannishwaldo resolves to...
Buy new ferrets.
Tell my family about indigo girls.
Overcome my secret fear of ianto jones.
Take evening classes in tarot.
Eat more progressive politics.
Take catherfina vidding.
Get your own New Year's Resolutions:

Okay seriously, as if my urge to get a new boy-ferret weren't driving me nuts as it is.
Mom would probably love the Indigo Girls as they kind of shade towards pop-country fusion.
I'm not so afraid of *Ianto* per se, but what CoE did to the fandom. And my absolute lack of interest in the show.
I'd totally take a tarot class.
And I'd love to see Catherfina again, it's been quite a while... so if vidding would do it, I'd totally be there. :)

... hate (in no particular order):
1. Rodney McKay. Yeah, I know blasphemy. Bite me. He's obnoxious and not cute enough to make up for it. In fact not even remotely.
2. Tim McGee (okay, *hate* may be a little strong, be he's getting there.) Okay, writers we get it. He doesn't need to be treated like a Probie any more. He's all grown up. But he's an ASS when he tries to prove it. He's just plain mean. "I've learned not to date the daughters of international arms smugglers"? That was so far out of line!
3. Gwen Cooper. Sanctamonious, cheating, bitch. Was that too on the nose?
4. Travis Mayweather. Most boring human being ever to set foot on film.
5. Kate Todd. Also a bitch. And for a profiler, she really, really, really should have seen that all the crap Tony pulled on her was to get attention. If she *really* wanted it to stop, she should have stopped playing into his hand. Seriously, this is psychology I use on 10 year olds... she should have nailed this one.

... love:
1. G Callen. Yes, he is a 13 year old girl's Mary Sue OC in canon. 37 foster homes? Really? He doesn't even know his own given name? Seriously? But I love the angsty ones. He gives me so much to work with when I feel like writing the woobie.
2. Kensi Blye. The most unappologetic KICK ASS girl I've ever seen on 'real world' t.v. (As opposed to say, Teyla, who's not even from Earth.)
3. Neal Caffrey. Being amazingly gorgeous doesn't hurt him at all. Dark hair and blue eyes? Sign me up. Twice. Also, he's a total con artist - literally - but he's... mostly harmless. And so adorable in personality.
4. Dan Rydell. See most of what I wrote about Callen. Canon woobie. Absusive father, dead brother, documented mental health issues...
5. Tony DiNozzo. Yes he has more than a few moments of immaturity (and yes, he is devolving almost as fast as Abby did in the second season), but he's honorable and harmless (to the good guys) and clever and smart. And loyal as hell.

Okay, if you're a Sports Night fan, you know the scene where Danny asks Natalie what she does with her extra money? That's me right now.

For those of you who don't know the show, it basically goes like this: Danny is a well-paid sports anchor on t.v. Natalie is a junior producer on the show and not paid nearly as well. At one point Danny asks Natalie what she does with her extra money. She basically tells him that all her money is tied up in rent and food and stuff and there *is* no extra money. For the rest of the show Danny runs around trying to decide how to pick a charitable fund to support. His problem isn't that he can't find a good one; his problem is they're *all* good and how do you pick from all the good ones and not pick the others.

This would be me right now. I mean for 10 years I was on Natalie's side going, "Gee, that has to suck for you, having all that extra money and needing to decide between a thousand good places to send it."

Well, now I'm Danny. Seriously. Every one of you who asked for my computer - for yourself or someone else who could use it - made a very compelling case. Only, I don't *have* 17 computers to give out. And right now I wish I did.

Anyway, after spending a day going, "This person... no wait, that one..., but what about...?" I finally just gave into the one case where things would be a bit easier on me. There's someone local who can get it *from* me. And yeah, that makes it easier, but it also ensures that it won't become a box of beaten up parts (this is, after all, the computer that took a header off my bed and already had to have the power reply replaced because of it) that won't do anyone any good.

I've contacted that person to set up a pick up.

I'm so sorry I can't give everyone a computer, dammit! I had no idea so many people needed them. And seriously, this is in my head now. I think the portable DVD player I replaced last year... yeah, I'm just gonna give the old one to the kids from that family at work that I've kind of informally adopted. It'll save me the stress!

Title: Almost Out of the Sky (6/12) part 1
Rating: M for language
Paring: L/K eventually
Disclaimer: Don't own the characters. AoTS by Pablo Neruda.
Summary: Earth 2012 AU "Mama’s finally ready. She said it’s time to put Ruby’s ghost to rest."
A/N: This chapter doesn't fully merit the split, however part 2 is still in the shop getting a tune up from my fabulous beta [info]workerbee73 .  Okay kids, enjoy the show and thanks for reading.

Sheesh, we haven't even had the author-reveal yet, and I'm having Yuletide withdrawal.  Not that there isn't a ton to read, but I'm in, "OMG! Must write to a prompt!" mode.  And lo, there are no prompts...

So I turn to you, dear f'list... Let's do an alphabet prompt list.

Give me a word that starts with a given letter and any two of the following fandoms (I'm not doing crossovers, but I want a back-up fandom in case a given muse goes scurrying for cover.)

Fandoms:
Enterprise
Hercules: the Legendary Journeys
Hornblower
Merlin
NCIS
NCIS: LA
SG-1
SGA
Sherlock Holmes (which will probably look a lot like something from the current movie, if I'm brave enough to tackle it at all.)
Sports Night
Torchwood
Velvet Goldmine
White Collar

And um... probably some I've forgotten.  If you think I write in it, and I didn't list it, feel free to try me.

A                                                              N
B  - Blowtorch (NCIS or NCIS:LA)               O
C  - Candle (Merlin or Enterprise)              P
D                                                              Q
E                                                               R
F                                                               S
G                                                              T
H                                                              U
I                                                               V
J                                                               W - wound (NCIS: LA or Hornblower)
K                                                              X
L                                                               Y
M                                                              Z

(btw, this is up at LJ and DW, so if I get ideas for the same letter from two different places, I'll just add them both and either pick one, or if they both rock, I'll do them both. :)
